So what’s the big deal with 'Real' hair versus synthetic fiber? In truth, there are pros & cons to both types of hair - whether you're purchasing wigs, extensions or hairpieces.
To name a few: you can treat human hair wigs just like your own; you can cut, color and style them as you would the hair on your own head! Plus they feel soft and look most natural. However, human hair wigs are more expensive, in part due to the rising demand for quality hair. Synthetic fiber wigs are ready to wear right out of the box and are generally very affordable. The hair even stays put in bad weather. However, most synthetic wigs cannot be styled with heat tools or dyed.

Watch our Human Hair vs Synthetic video to learn the features & benefits of real hair and synthetic fiber, so you can make an informed decision when purchasing.

We just got our hands on the latest pictures from Jon Renau’s 2010 Wig Collection. Not only are they gorgeous, but wearing wigs from the new line was a familiar face...

Fo from Cycle 13 of the TV show America’s Next Top Model!

With such a memorable look that’s also versatile, we recognized Fo right away. You may remember Fo from ANTM as the stunning mixed-race model with medium-length hair; until Tyra's famous makeovers had her chop her locks short...

From Cycle 13, America's Next Top Model

But Fo looks great in every Jon Renau wig she wears - long, short, dark, light colored. Fo is the ideal wig model.

The #1 question that Wigs.com customers ask is “Which color do I choose?

We know it can seem overwhelming - each wig manufacturer has a slightly different color pallette, and not all colors are available in every wig style. Most wig styles are available in subtle natural tones as well as striking, salon-inspired colors. However, if you follow our simple rules of thumb, you’ll be on your way to a confident color choice.

Watch our ‘How to Choose a Color’ video below for color help and tips to make your wig purchase easier.

On the evening of June 12th, Wigs.com participated in a charity benefit called Bacchus Celebration. The event was held in Dallas, Texas at a beautiful and modern studio venue called Design Within Reach.

All proceeds from the event go to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Included in the event was a large silent auction in which attendees could bid on a wide range of items, from local and national retailers, to artists' pieces and autographed sports paraphernalia. The auction proceeds benefit the L&L Society as well.

Thus Wigs.com donated 2 great costume wigs for the auction, as we know that many of our beloved clients may be living with leukemia, lymphoma and many other types of cancers and illnesses. Here are a few photos from the benefit of Wigs.com attendees, the donated wigs, and their new owners:

    Bald is beautiful!

Wigs.com and those who attended the event on the company's behalf were humbled by the generosity of the organization. The event spotlighted individuals who were currently battling cancer, and Wigs.com was reminded of a large clientele base who turn to Wigs.com for advice, guidance, and of course, confidence through our product.

In a recent issue of Interview magazine, MEGAN FOX was featured on the cover. But the sexy starlet was barely recognizable wearing a dark, geometric cut bob wig. Though she ditches her long waved locks for the shoot, Fox still looked hot! We always see pictures of her with her long dark hair slightly waved, so it's refreshing to see her try something new (even if just for a magazine photoshoot).

For a structured bob like Megan's, try any of these similar and sexy styles:

Katy Perry was seen looking red-hot in a bright blue wig at both the 2010 MTV Movie Awards and the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards. She has such a bubbly and vibrant personality, this wig is a perfect way to make a statement:

At the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, Katy wore the wig soft, polished and Pin-up inspired with a sparkly mini dress.

At the 2010 Kids Choice Awards, Katy wore it ombre and paired it with a matching yellow and blue minidress (seen here presenting with Jonah Hill).

Why wear it twice? When you've got a good thing going, why not take advantage?! Plus, a great synthetic costume wig will last multiple wearings if you take care of it. Her blue wig is Pin-up Girl meets Superhero! Rock that costume wig, Katy.

This week, Wigs.com donated a dozen wigs for a The Glamour Squad event that we attended. This event took place at a local children’s hospital – Medical City of Dallas, Texas - in which young patients from the hospital received makeovers and had a day all about them.

The Glamour Squad organization was started in part by Jenna Owens (above photo, far left). Jenna is best known as a radio personality on KISS FM’s Kidd Kraddick in the Morning. The young girls who attended the event are bravely living with and enduring cancer and other illnesses. For many of them, day-to-day life can be stressful, painful and certainly not fun. The Glamour Squad was a chance for these beautiful girls to be pampered, feel pretty & escape for some much-needed and well-deserved fun.

This day of pampering included facials, makeup, and manicures. The girls even got their hair done by professional hairstylists, or they received a brand new wig from Wigs.com. Of course there were portraits taken and gift baskets too.

Wigs.com’s CEO and owner, Carliz Sotelo Teague attended the event and remembers the words of one lovely girl on her spa day - “This is the best day I’ve ever had!” Also to attend was Wigs.com associate Brian Rutledge. “Some people might take the little things for granted,” Rutledge said. “But not these kids. It was clear that this day meant a lot to these girls, and I came away with a new respect for the everyday stuff.”

Our hearts were certainly full after meeting the inspiring young ladies on the day made just for them with The Glamour Squad. Stay tuned for more Community Outreach and philanthropic efforts from Wigs.com – The Wig Experts.
