We’re excited to welcome and introduce DR Hanson from The Beauty Box Salon as a guest blogger! He will be giving us the 411 on bridal hair trends… Take it away DR!

Salons all over the country are being bombarded by brides. I should know because I work at the best salon in Dallas. From the Bridezilla requesting a stylist be on hand the next day to Glinda the Good Bride booking her wedding package months in advance, The Beauty Box Salon has seen it all.

And we’re sharing our secrets and knowledge with Wigs.com!

Top Three Wedding Hair Trends for 2013

    NYFW Long and down hair

    Source: The Beauty Box Salon

    1) Down & Long – New York Fashion Week has always been the standard of hair and fashion that the country, and the world look to. What walks down the runways of New York are soon to be spotted walking down the sidewalks and hallways of your own city. So what did we see this February? Bohemian Chicness! This is perfect for any bride who plans to don any hair accessory, floral or otherwise. It also pairs wonderfully with an outdoor wedding, especially a destination wedding. Maui anyone?

    2) ExtensionsThey’re not just for celebrity housewives anymore. Don’t let thin hair or a short cut prevent you from being the Belle at your own ball. Top of the head pieces and extensions are a great way to get that length or volume you're looking for on your special day. In fact, my lead stylist at the salon just applied some tape in extensions to one of her clients for her wedding. And the bride was so kind to send us a photo from her ceremony. As you can see, she is stunning and her hair looks radiant! Thank you for sharing your wedding with us Amanda!

    * Note her sleeveless dress that really lets her hair take center stage. Make sure your hairstyle and your dress are not competing with each other.

    3) Chasing Waterfalls – If the thought of wearing your hair down has you scratching your head, maybe The Waterfall Braid is what you’re looking for. Braids were a huge trend last year so it’s only natural that the 2013 Bride should be wearing them. And the Waterfall Braid is the way to go. It’s the best of both worlds, marrying the Long & Wavy Trend from NYFW with the Braid Trend, creating a romantic look that is sure to leave everyone speechless.

We hope these real life tips and ideas help you as you plan your wedding. Just remember, this is about you! So make sure you take the time to think about what you want for your wedding. And when it comes to your hair, definitely find the right stylist who can listen and help you create your perfect vision!

And there you have it guys – the most coveted hair trends for your wedding day! side-swept-hair-trend-wig-tutorial

The Golden Globes and the SAG Awards both had one thing in common: the Side Swept hairstyle.

    side-swept-hairstyle-trend-red-carpet

Even now as we enter New York Fashion Week, we’ve already seen models on the runway in one shoulder tresses; clearly this trend is in motion. Celebrities, models and designers have all been swept away with this easy to do hairstyle. And YOU TOO can have red carpet hair at home… we’ll show you how!

We chose the Adriana wig for a few reasons. First of all, this synthetic hair wig comes with a beautiful ready-to-wear wave pattern that best matched the locks we saw on the red carpet. However, if you have a human hair or heat-friendly synthetic hair wig (or your own hair) you can recreate the curls using a 1” curling iron. Also, this wig has a lace front and a monofilament top. This type of cap construction is perfect for this hairstyle because it will give your side part the most realistic look.

This hairstyle is as easy as 1, 2, 3! Just follow the detailed steps below and give yourself a wig-over with this super easy tutorial.

What you’ll need for the Side Swept hairstyle:

    side-swept-hair-trend-how-to-wig-adriana-jon-renau-tutorial

    Steps:

    1. Make a side part using a rattail comb.
    2. Sweep hair over the tip of your ear and let it fall over your natural hairline. This will conceal the edge of the wig.
    3. Pin hair to that side with bobby pins (crisscross the pins for the strongest hold). At this point you can apply some hairspray to tame flyways for a smooth finish.

    And Voilà! You’re done!
