    side-swept-hair-trend-wig-tutorial

The Golden Globes and the SAG Awards both had one thing in common: the Side Swept hairstyle.

    side-swept-hairstyle-trend-red-carpet

Even now as we enter New York Fashion Week, we’ve already seen models on the runway in one shoulder tresses; clearly this trend is in motion. Celebrities, models and designers have all been swept away with this easy to do hairstyle. And YOU TOO can have red carpet hair at home… we’ll show you how!

We chose the Adriana wig for a few reasons. First of all, this synthetic hair wig comes with a beautiful ready-to-wear wave pattern that best matched the locks we saw on the red carpet. However, if you have a human hair or heat-friendly synthetic hair wig (or your own hair) you can recreate the curls using a 1” curling iron. Also, this wig has a lace front and a monofilament top. This type of cap construction is perfect for this hairstyle because it will give your side part the most realistic look.

This hairstyle is as easy as 1, 2, 3! Just follow the detailed steps below and give yourself a wig-over with this super easy tutorial.

What you’ll need for the Side Swept hairstyle:

    side-swept-hair-trend-how-to-wig-adriana-jon-renau-tutorial

    Steps:

    1. Make a side part using a rattail comb.
    2. Sweep hair over the tip of your ear and let it fall over your natural hairline. This will conceal the edge of the wig.
    3. Pin hair to that side with bobby pins (crisscross the pins for the strongest hold). At this point you can apply some hairspray to tame flyways for a smooth finish.

    And Voilà! You’re done!

From KStew and RPatz breakup (we were heartbroken!) to Jessica Simpson’s TWO pregnancies, 2012 was full of dramatic moments. Dramatically crazy and beautiful hair had a special moment this past year – everyone was rocking it!

    Crazy Colorful

    Crazy Beautiful colorful hair

For some it was all about changing the color. While Demi Lovato went blonde, Dakota Fanning decided to give brunette locks a chance. Obviously, that doesn't count as crazy hair but then celebrities began to dye their hair in colors not found in nature! Anywhere from lilac to neon pink a new trend was set. Before long, candy color hair was everywhere.

Love the trend? You can have it too without ever touching chemicals with colorful wigs.

    Short & Sweet

For others crazy hair came in the form of a pair of scissors. Rihanna started things off first by shaving part of her hair off and finally settling on a pixie cut. Soon after Miley Cyrus shared with us via Twitter and Instagram her buzz cut! After that, Anne Hathaway joined the club by cutting it all in front of the camera for her role in Les Misérables.

If you're looking for a super dramatic change you should follow in these ladies footsteps. But before you have heart attack check out these short wigs, you'll never have to cut a single hair again.

Though we loved 2012 we're glad to see it go and can't wait to see what hair trends begin to emerge in 2013!

Miley Cyrus dyed her hair platinum blonde & cut it pixie short

    IMAGES COURTESY MILEY CYRUS

Miley Cyrus has the world buzzing about her new edgy haircut! And while the style seems severe to some, we admire her for trying something completely new. In spite of everybody’s point of view, she’s in love with it – “I’ve never felt more me in my whole life” – And we totally get it. There’s nothing like a new ‘do to make you feel empowered.

The thing is, not everyone is as brave as Miley and willing to chop it all off at once. If you are thinking of taking the plunge, a wig is a great way to test the waters before committing to a new cut or color. We all have moments when we want to look different. With wigs you can have some fun as a blonde or a redhead and be back to yourself by the end of the day.

But what do you do if you’ve already committed and it wasn’t exactly what you had in mind? Come on, we’ve all been there… looking nothing like the magazine cutout you specifically gave your stylist with strict orders. No, your new bob is not cute, it’s a hot mess! Before the tears start flowing, you should remember you have options. Lots of them! Nothing covers up a bad haircut better than a wig. Think of all the possibilities! Long, short, curly one day, straight the next – endless styles. Really there’s no reason why you should feel “stuck” with a bad haircut. All you have to do is wig out. There are also tons of clip-in hair extensions you can use to disguise a questionable haircut while it grows back.

OK, let’s say you don’t hate your new ‘do and like Miley, you totally love it. Does that mean you’ll NEVER wish your hair were longer again? Chances are you will, and with wigs you can totally rock a different look. A short edgy cut is always chic, but you might want long glamorous locks for a special event. And again wigs are the perfect way to “grow” your hair overnight. Hair extensions are also great to add length and volume if you don’t want to go for a whole different style. You can go as long as you’d like and even add some color while you’re at it!

So, before make the cut (or even if it’s too late) save yourself some drama and just go for a wig!

    Everything old is new again!

For months now we’ve noticed a retro vibe creeping onto the hair worn on the red carpets and fashion runways alike. At the beginning of the year we saw the revival of pin curls and finger waves, but now the hair has gotten better (and bigger) than ever! From ponytails to beehives, these old favorites are getting revamped in trendy ways.

This season you can recreate any of these hairstyles with a colorful twist!

    Back to the Future

The hair roll worn by Demi Lovato with pink tips.

    Photos by WireImage.com

Demi Lovato revived the 1950s hair roll with her pink-tipped hair. The look has ‘rockabilly’ written all over it, but if you add a little bit of color you too can rock a modern take on the pin-up look with color hair extensions. If you're a wig wearer, make sure to wear a monofilament wig when recreating the hair roll to ensure the most realistic look.

    A colorful beehive hairstyle.

The 1960s beehive may have been Amy Winehouse’s signature style, but Teen Vogue magazine gave it a major makeover with huge neon dyed hair. You can get the same look without the commitment by clipping in colorful extensions into your hair or wig. (Psst… the brighter the better!)

A colorful high pony hairstyle as worn by Katy Perry.

Madonna brought back the “I Dream of Jeannie” ponytail in the 90s, but this year we’ve seen it on a ton of celebrities including Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato. Katy Perry gave it her personal touch with extra-long color hair extensions. A ponytail hairpiece can give you the high pony look. Plus, by pairing it up with clip-in color hair extensions you can splash some life into it and still keep up with the trend.

What will be the next trend to resurface? Whether it’s the Afro, The Rachel (too soon?) or the Mohawk, you can count on us to help you with the details!

What do you think about the rooted look?

Many of the wig styles available on Wigs.com are available in 'rooted' colors for the same effect. It's true - now wigs are being made with a root slightly darker than the rest of the hair for a more natural and believable look. Wig manufacturers like Raquel Welch, Jon Renau, Noriko, Revlon, and Rene of Paris are all looking out for us!

Nobody has the schedule for frequent touch-ups at the salon - not even celebrities and movie stars. These days... it's a trend! Celebs like Sarah Jessica Parker, Rachel McAdams and Madonna (to name just a few) all dare to show the rooted look ...

    Hairstyle with Rooted Look

    Shenae Grimes

    Sarah Jessica Parker

    Camila Alves

    Jessica Simpson

    Rachel McAdams

    Jennifer Aniston

    Madonna

    Rachel Bilson

    Reese Witherspoon

    Sandra Bullock

Our own hair grows darker and lightens with the sun towards the ends. So some say the rooted look is more natural.

Please let us know what you think about the rooted look!
