Looking for a dramatic change? As the seasons transition to warmer temperatures, we look back at a hair landscape awash in bold cuts. Spring extends this creative energy with runway inspired trends that emphasize natural texture and color. This season’s trendiest hairstyle adds versatility to the mix calling for fun, playfulness and daring…

The long bob or “Lob” is a longer bob that falls between shoulder length hair and a bob.

Upstage by Raquel Welch | Color: RL19/23SS

Known in France as the ‘couper la Jeanne D’Arc’ (the Joan of Arc), it’s a practical style that encourages a more spirited side of your personality. And as a symbol of the strong, dynamic and fearless woman, it’s the go-to cut for many celebrities which is cementing this look as a major hair trend that’s in no danger of going out of style.

Long bob hairstyles are super versatile. It's a cut that can be worn stick straight for an up-town chic look, or with waves for that just-crawled-out-of-bed-hair trend.

Its versatility is maintained by the fact that it’s a modern and edgy cut that’s a perfectly classy choice for a day in the office or a night out on the town.

This spring’s key trend reflects what’s natural about the individual, which means natural hair textures are a big thing. One effect of this trend is the emphasis on styles that are artful, yet easy to manage. Get ready for a season of simple hairstyles in textures of every kind.

Why not go bold? Short hair is having a major moment right now with bobs in different styles holding their own in the spotlight. This look has been modernized with wavy textures that are tousled to embrace the natural trend.

Modern and fresh, mid-length styles are being embraced in a major way this season! It’s the signature look for those who want a flattering style without being weighed down by hair. Remember to channel bed-head styles to take advantage of this trend.

Wavy hair goes with warm weather like surfboards and picnic baskets. Low maintenance yet stylish, this summertime go-to is popular and looks great in any season. But how do you get that effortlessly tousled look? It’s fast and easier than you think. Check out our tutorial and easy step-by-step guide for getting the Perfect Loose Wave with Spirit by Ellen Wille!

We’ll be demonstrating on Spirit, which is part of the new Prime Power collection by Ellen Wille. Due to it’s unique blend of human hair enhanced with premium synthetic fiber, Prime hair can be heat styled up to 350 degrees. You’ll also need a 1 inch curling iron. We used the 1” Professional Ceramic Spring Iron by Gold N Hot. (Want to watch as we style? Check out our video on How To Style Prime Hair.)

Step 1: Set your curling iron to a maximum temperature of 350 degrees. Any higher will melt the fibers.

Step 2: The secret to perfecting this style is leaving the ends straight. Start by taking a 1 inch width piece of hair from the part and wrap it around the barrel of the curling iron leaving about 2 inches uncurled. *Note-We are using a standard barrel curling iron. You can achieve the same look by using a curling wand which won’t clip the hair.)

Step 3: Twist the curling iron away from your face to create an outward curl.

Step 4: Hold for about 5-10 seconds.

Step 5: Pull the barrel lower on the curl and hold for another 2-3 seconds.

Step 6: Gently pull the curl as you remove the curling iron from the hair.

Step 7: Repeat this process working your way around your head until you arrive at the other side of the part.

Step 8: Run your fingers through your hair a few times to soften the curls.

Step 9: Now you have the perfect loose wave!

Let us know what you think in the comments!

    Day 48

It's confirmed, blondes do get more attention. But surprisingly it was as a redhead that I received the most flirts. Maybe redheads are more approachable? I love having the luxury of choice so much that I’ve decided to go past my 30 day commitment. Wigs feel so much like another accessory that I now plan outfits around different styles and colors. This must be how women in the 50's and 60's felt as wigs and hair was the ultimate accessory used to finish a look. Except, the hair quality is phenomenally better now!!!

    DAY 52

I was at the airport today and as I walked through security I began thinking about setting off alarms. Would I have to take my wig off? I began playing through different ways I could deflect embarrassment. I got through okay, but that brief moment of apprehension stayed with me. It left me thinking about the anxiety a woman who’s not yet ready to reveal to the world that she wears a wig must feel in such a situation. It’s such a shame that there are women who wear or want to wear wigs that fear being stigmatized.

    DAY 65

You know you're in love with something when you can't put it away! I decided to extend my wig wearing adventure until the end of the year. But as 2015 came to a close and 2016 began, I found myself still reaching for a wig in the morning. I never thought I would feel this way about wigs. They appeal to the side of me that’s gotten spoiled by having perfect hair every day. Seriously, I haven't been to the hairdresser in quite a while (saved some money there too). So it looks like I'll be wearing wigs for another 14 days until I can get my hair done.

    DAY 80+

Going through this journey has helped me arrive at a new appreciation for my clients, especially the women that wear wigs daily as a necessity. What I love most about wigs is their extraordinary ability to transform your mood, and confidence level, in an instant! Whether you’re new to wigs or an experienced wig wearer, I hope this piece has been helpful. I would love to get your feedback. Please feel free to share your wig experience below and I look forward to sharing with you all again.

    DAY 33

It’s raining cats and dogs and as I pull into work my wig looks perfect. This is a big deal because I styled it all by myself and I am not the best at primping my own hair. It’s a short and dark, one length wig from Louis Ferre made of human hair. The quality is amazing! At first the lace wouldn't lay down properly on my forehead so I thought it may be defective. But it's almost like it just figured out my head shape because after I styled it (flat ironed the waves which took me too long!) the hair feels incredible and looks great!

    DAY 38

I’ve noticed that no matter how secure I know my wig is I keep touching it to make sure it hasn’t ridden up. I’m not sure if this is a nervous habit I developed because it took a couple of weeks for me to get the 'putting on' process down. But once I start tugging my hair underneath begins moving. I made a conscious effort not to touch it and trust it is where it belongs. I found myself still doing mirror checks just to be sure.

    DAY 41

Three days later and the not-tugging-on-my-wig-to-make-sure-it’s-in-place effort is working like a dream. What a difference! It turns out the problem was my own insecurity about my wig moving. Today was my first real experience with cold set, which is when a wig sits in a box a long time, or is exposed to extreme temperatures while in the box. It sets the hair in a weird shape, (usually on top or in front). I learned to spritz it down with water, rub my hands together vigorously and touch it up. The heat from your hands resets the hair!

    DAY 46

I'm learning so many things about hair color. The only thing that's changed on me over the last month or so has been my hair. But there’s a difference in the way I’m treated depending on which color I choose for the day. I received the most compliments on my hair as a brunette. I feel the most at home in this color. The consensus seems to be that I look younger, "classier" was the word used. But as a blonde I received more concessions: men allowed me to go first in line; I got little extras at the counter; and (of course) I got looked at. Even women were giving me the “once over”. Each color has its advantage for sure.
