I purchased coffee latte and the color is beautiful, it has some highlighting in red and blonde tones, but overall it looks a lot like my natural hair when I highlight it. I thought the front was a little bulky from the box,, but I noticed it started to smooth out after just sitting on a wig head. After wearing it for a week, the bulkiness has decreased. I really think it just needed to relax and mold to a round head shape. My wig was folded along the part in the box which seemed to accentuate the permatease. A good brushing and a wig head smoothed it right out.
I have other wigs with permatease and they do settle down. I'm actually back for a second one in another color. I love Amore, Noriko, and Renee of Paris wigs. The colors are exceptional and the wigs are high quality. I have one that's 8 years old and I still get compliments on it.
I purchased this wig as an alternative to Noriko's Jackson (Noriko caps are too small for me) since I wanted a medium style length that was less structured in the cut.
As I had hoped the cap on this Rene of Paris wig is indeed a touch bigger and stretchier than Noriko wigs.
The chestnut color that I ordered is pretty, albeit quite dark.
The wig is a bit shiny out of the box, but I am waiting for my Batiste red dry shampoo which will take care of the shine in no time.
The chestnut color does a decent enough job to disguise the generous amount of permatease in this wig. For example, Noriko's Carrie has permatease that extends right to the front part where the hair parts- in the Laine this is not the case, the permatease is not as obvious visually.
Overall Laine is a really good deal for the price for those who are looking for a wig that is not in the $100+ plus range, but is constructed like wigs of that price segment, and has hair fibers far above 40 Dollar wigs. The hair fibers are very smooth and silky.
This wig will either compliment your head shape- or give you a cone shape, so be prepared of either getting used to the feeling, or be prepared to work with it a little bit.
I will have to retrain the front layers since they fall straight in front of my face - but that is something where a hair dryer +round brush, or my Helen of Troy hot air brush come in handy. I used some spray on leave in conditioner and it helped getting the front layers to fall where I wanted them to fall.
I feel that this is a good buy, you just have to be prepared to make it work for you to train the front layers to fit your head shape. Good alternative for those that don't like Freetress etc wigs, but cannot or won't pay $100+.
If they had made this wig with a mono front, it would be perfect. Perfect length, nice and thick. But I tried to cut bangs and when I did, all the hair stood straight out!
Always get compliments
Loooooooooove this wig!! Everyone is always surprised when they find out that it's a wig and not my hair!!
Not realistic looking
I really liked the length and layers, but it is too thick and unnatural looking in the front. The color was very shiny and looked too much like a costume wig. I tried having a stylist cut it, but it ended up looking worse then it did out of the box. I will go back to Gabor brand.
