What Type of Wigs Are Good For Styling?

Before styling your wig, it's important to ensure it can accommodate the hairdo you want to create. The first factor to consider is its length—mid-length and long wigs offer the versatility to achieve a variety of looks.

Next, take into account the wig’s cap construction. If you plan to pull the hair back or style it away from your face, an ear-to-ear lace front wig is essential.

Please Note: If your wig does not have an ear-to-ear lace front, leave a few tendrils out to conceal the hairline for a natural appearance.

Date Night Wig Hairstyles

While some wig cap constructions and lengths may limit certain styles, we still encourage you to experiment with at least one of these ‘dos! Grab a wide tooth comb, some bobby pins, and hairspray—it’s time to style your wig for a date night!

Updo

With wigs, it’s important to keep your updo low on the head to have the most natural look at the nape. Make sure you pull the hair back but leave it relaxed and swoopy along the sides. Tight buns risk showing wefting and ear tabs. If your wig doesn’t have an ear to ear lace front, keep a few tendrils out here and there in strategic spots.

Ponytails are an easy hairstyle for date night! Keep your ponytail low but keep height on the top for a posher evening look. Use a braid or wrap a strand of hair around the elastic band to cover it. Add a cute clip or glitzy barrette for a fancy look.

Bardot-Inspired Beehive

Go retro for our next entry! The Brigitte Bardot Beehive is a '60s-inspired hairdo with eye-catching volume and height at the crown. What makes this hairdo so iconic is you can either wear it as a posh updo or leave some of the hair down for an elegant half-do. Be sure to leave a few strands out to add soft, face-framing bangs. If your wig is heat friendly, you can curl these strands for a demure appearance.

Other Ways You Can Have Date Night Hair

If you’re running short on time or fancy hairstyles aren’t your thing, there are other ways to style your wig for date night:

Accessorize. You can add accessories to your wig like bows, clips, and headbands.

Change the part. If you have a monofilament top wig, you can change the direction of the part for a fresh look.

Opt for a different wig. If you normally wear long, sleek wigs, try a short bob or wavy mid-length style for a change. Whichever hairstyle you feel most comfortable wearing is important to having perfect date night hair.

Heat Style the Hair. If your wig is heat friendly, use styling tools to create elegant tresses or dramatic waves in minutes. Please Note: Always check manufacturer information to see if your wig is heat friendly. If you have a non-heat friendly wig, use the 3-in-1 Airstyler to achieve your desired look.

Final Thoughts

With the right wig and a little creativity, achieving perfect date night hair has never been easier! Whether you opt for a sleek updo, a flirty ponytail, or a glamorous half-dos, there’s a style to complement every outfit and occasion. Most importantly, confidence is the key to looking and feeling your best. So style your wig, step out in confidence, and enjoy your date night with flawless hair that turns heads!
