Antonia: One of my most memorable consultations was when I had the honor to assist a client in her final stage of cancer who was expected to transition soon. Her brother contacted our company to help her look her most beautiful before she passed. I was filled with emotion and grief before starting the consultation. When we saw each other over video, I welled up with tears and told her how brave and inspiring she was, facing death in a bold and fearless way while exuding strength and hope. Her daughter was recording our interaction and was also crying. The client looked me straight in the face and said, "Antonia, cancer was a blessing for me." I couldn't understand that statement until she explained that she felt like she was waiting in line for a ride that everyone has to take, and someone tapped her on the shoulder and said, "You get to skip me." She explained that cancer allowed her to prepare and say goodbye, as many people don't know when or have time to prepare. Her faith and hope imparted something into me that she will never know. I understand her statement now and now spend my days preparing and normalizing taking that amusement park ride.
