Wigs are the Best Thinning Hair Solution
I always had thin hair. Ever since I was a kid. I remember some boy calling me bald in third grade. I had no idea what he was talking about. And I stayed none the wiser until I was all grown up. And then it hit me like a ton of bricks. Not only was my hair thin, but I was full on bald in some spots. And so a bevy of hair loss solutions came into play. They weren’t pretty. In fact, some were down right ugly...if only I’d just tried a hair topper or a wig first, I could have saved myself a world of pain...
I guess the very first thing I probably tried were volumizers. They come in many forms from shampoo to mousse to powder. I always went for the powder because it was miraculous, but I always overdid the powder because it was miraculous. I wanted to guarantee that I would see something unbelievably spectacular happening up in that hair...Every dang time, I ended up looking like a drugstore doll that had been electrocuted.
Then there were the expensive and high maintenance grow-your-hair-back “treatments”. Oils, serums, special shampoos, foam chemicals...You’d think I would have avoided the chemicals. But, no, I went for a foam first, thinking I would regrow hair that probably never existed. I carefully saturated my scalp in stuff I couldn’t even pronounce. Ugh. Chemicals. I got fed up when I didn’t see results. My husband thought he did, though. On HIMSELF.
Then I turned to my tried and true colored powders, sprays, fibers, mascara-like touch up wands, actual mascara, and stuff you just hose onto your scalp like your taking a can of spray paint and tagging your own head. These “color by bald spot” solutions were my best option. And my worst enemy. I remember my head resting on the coach after a steamy embrace with my husband...I got up, glowing with love, until my feelings turned to severe embarrassment as I spied a BIG dark spot of hair color powder where my head had touched the cushion. Worse? I couldn’t get it off. It’s there, facing the back of the coach in exile, but haunting me still...
My point is, I went through a lot to come to one simple solution... Wigs are where it’s at for me. I don’t have to hide my bald spots anymore (wigs are so realistic now that people are constantly mistaking them for my bio hair!), I have freedom of expression (what color or cut do I feel like framing my face with today?), and it’s easy and quick (wigs are a super fast way to the perfect hairstyle! Just put it on and go!
