After a long work week filled with business meetings and tiring amounts of projects followed by a weekend of social events, Sunday should be your designated day for total relaxation and revival. Dry shampooing your hair four times out of the week may seem like the easiest way to get by, but this can be very irritating to the scalp and cause clumping if not eventually washed. Do you also apply heat to your hair - every other if not - everyday? The damaging effects that heat can cause to one’s hair follicles are horrible if not treated properly afterwards. Heat protectants and serums are great ways to prevent damage and hold the hair, but other measures still need to be taken in order to continue having the hair grow to its healthiest and fullest.
1. DIY Hair Mask
In order to revive your hair for the upcoming week, try a DIY hair mask. Simple coconut oil, avocado, and honey masks are all raw and natural, one ingredient-based masks that can simply be used to achieve shinier, healthier, hydrated hair. If you’d like to get creative try mixing all of the ingredients together to devise a concoction that can provide an extra boost of moisture. The benefits are endless! If you are interested in absorbing excess oil with antifungal properties, try lemon and apple cider vinegar! Check out our article DIY Hair Masks at Home for more info.
DIY isn’t for everyone, and if that's the case for you, you can purchase a ready-made hair masks like the Intensive Recovery Mask from BeautiMark.
2. Shampoo & Condition
Once your hair is masked to perfection, wash your hair well with a shampoo and conditioner duo.
If you want extra protection, apply your favorite blow dry balm just before applying your heat protectant. If you air-dry your hair or straighten it once washed, we have two heat protectant suggestions for you:
- Heat Treat Thermal Spray by Jon Renau
- Daily Protect Leave-In Spray by BeautiMark
If you'd rather style your hair before the following morning, simple braids will suffice to make your morning routine fly by slightly faster than usual. Once you’ve applied your leave-in conditioner, style your hair to the braid or knot style you’d like. If you are an active sleeper, placing a cap over your hair to help keep your hair in place through the night.
Once the morning has arrived, unravel your hair. Voila! - A Sunday funday hair routine successfully accomplished!
