How Much Do Human Hair Wigs Cost?

Posted on January 27 2019

Human hair wigs cost between $700 - $2000. These are the best quality wigs so the cost can be higher than some other wig types. These prices are somewhat higher because they are real hair wigs.

Ever heard the phrase "you get what you pay for"? Well it rings true a bit in every purchase. So, how much should you pay for a human hair wig? When buying a wig, there are a few things to know in order to ensure you spend your money wisely.

Long Blonde Human Hair Wig

Everyone seems to think that human hair wigs are the best choice. They are wonderfully luxurious and if you get good quality hair (which not all human hair necessarily is) there is no other feeling like it.  However, there are some things to know about human hair before deciding whether it is right for you. For instance, it takes quite a bit of maintenance as you have to style it daily just like you would your own hair.

Synthetic wigs come pre-styled and are virtually hassle free when it comes to styling. Just keep it maintained properly and it provides you a much easier daily style. The synthetic hair technology has come a long way! These are not your mother's wigs anymore! Synthetic hair is beautiful and is very hard to detect the difference between human hair when you get a good quality wig.

The next factor to consider when deciding how much a wig costs, or how much you should spend on a wig is cap construction. For the most realistic scalp/part and front hairline you definitely want a monofilament top and lace front cap construction. This gives you the most natural look and also affords you some styling versatility.

The cost of buying a wig can vary anywhere from $50 - $3000. However, if you get a cap construction that is the most natural (as mentioned above) your price range is likely to be somewhere between $200 and $400 for a great quality synthetic wig.

The Price of Real Hair Wigs

Real human hair wigs cost do cost more. These are the best quality wigs so the cost can be higher than some other wig types. For some people, this is a worthwhile investment, though. As they love the look and feel of real hair and don't mind the maintenance of human hair because of the gorgeous end result.

So, how much does it cost to buy a wig? It's up to you and the features and benefits you feel are important in your life style. The good news…There is a wig for any budget and even a less expensive wig can be a nice choice. You just may need to adjust your expectations on the lifespan of your wig if you go with a cheaper option.

A good quality synthetic wig with proper care should last anywhere from 3 to 6 months of regular use. For human hair, you can easily double that time-frame.

It doesn't really matter what quality you have chosen… If you feel good in it you will look good!

    Hi Ozzy,

At lower temperatures, you may experience more “fly-aways” just as you would with your own bio hair. You can tame this by using our Shaping Creme from BeautiMark, which you can see more of here:

    Hi Melissa!

Thanks for reaching out. From your description, you seem to have stunning hair! You can negotiate the price to an amount you feel is fair & you feel comfortable cutting 24 inches of your hair!

  • Melissa H: August 05, 2019

This may be a slightly different question than what you usually answer but I didn’t know where else to frame it. I recently had a wig maker offer to purchase 24 inches my hair for $250 and I wanted to know if that seemed like a fair price (I figured that a wig expert would know!)? My hair is waist length, a unique color mix of red/blonde/light brown, never dyed or permed, rarely styled or blow dryed, and trimmed regularly.

Thank you for your recent comment on our blog!

In Envy, the closest color to Glazed Sand is Ginger Cream. Please note, this color is not rooted so it will seem slightly less natural than what you are used to.
The best color match to Ellen Wille is Champagne Rooted, but unfortunately, the color isn’t available in all styles.

If no other color will do, you may want to look at a new style within the Raquel Welch collections!

Please let me know if you have further questions!

    All the best,

    The Wig Experts
