What is a Glueless Wig?

If you are new to wigs, you might be wondering, do wigs fall off easily? You’ll be happy to hear that “ready-to-wear” options will stay put when they’re the correct size. These styles are also referred to as “glueless” because they don’t require the use of glue or similar adhesives to stay attached. Unless you’re competing in a gymnastics tournament, or plan to ride roller coasters, you really don’t need to use adhesive, clips, bobby pins, or anything alike if you have a proper fit. For this reason, it’s crucial to measure your head so that you know which cap size to choose. Read on here to learn more about the guidelines for measuring.

Glueless wigs come in a multitude of cap designs and styles, in fact most of the brands we carry are glueless (i.e. ready to wear). Estetica is one of those brands and offers it all; from the basic, fully-wefted cap to designs with hand-tied features such as monofilament tops and lace fronts.  We’ve had many customers ask us:  Is Estetica a good wig brand?  The answer is, yes!  Here are some of their best selling styles that are ready to wear!

  • Avalon, a mid-length style with gentle, layered waves, combines a wefted cap with a hand-tied part and lace front.

  • Jones, a laid back, shoulder-length style with choppy layers and a wispy fringe is a perfect example of a fully-wefted cap without any lace.

  •  Sutton, a straight and blunt cut lob, offers a wefted back with monofilament top and lace front.

  • Long, textured waves make Blaze a beautifully versatile style. Go from casual and carefree to chic and polished. Her lace front with lace part means you'll enjoy off-the-face styling with a natural looking hairline and realistic scalp.

You might also be wondering, how can you wear lace front wigs without glue? Finished lace fronts give you the ability to pop on your wig and go. However, there are also lace front wigs on the market that require customization before being worn and those are typically the styles that require adhesive or glue.

How do you secure a glueless wig? The first step is selecting the proper cap size after you have taken your measurements. Next you will put your wig on by holding the ear tabs and aiming your forehead for the front of the wig while putting it on as if you were putting on a ball cap. Finally, ensure the front of the wig lines up with where your natural front hairline would be, and check that the ear tabs are straight from temple to temple.

If you have biological hair under your wig, make sure it is wrapped up and evenly distributed under a wig liner. If you have long bio hair, we suggest creating two French braids and swirl, then pin them before putting the wig liner on over your hair. You want your hair to be as flat as possible under your wig liner and properly wrapping your hair is very important for securing your wig.

How long does a glueless frontal last? The lifespan of lace front wigs greatly depends on the wig’s hair fibers and how well the wearer cares for the wig. With proper care,  glueless human hair wigs and human hair blend wigs can last up to 1+ years, lace front synthetic wigs can last up to six months and lace front heat friendly synthetic wigs can last up to 3-4 months. How often you wear your wig and proper handling also play a large factor in longevity. For example, pulling or adjusting your wig by the lace front, cutting the lace with improper tools or wearing the incorrect cap size can cause damage to it. Always make sure to adjust your wig using the ear tabs, have a professional trim your lace front using only pinking shears and again, ensure you are wearing the correct cap size.

When it comes to shopping for a wig, there are many styles that have finished lace fronts or no lace at all. No matter your style or hair loss needs, there are plenty of glueless options to choose from!
