Curl the bottom half of your hair normally with a thick barrel curl, about 1.25-1.5 inches wide with a clamp. For the top half, turn your curling iron horizontally so that it is parallel to your part.
Pull the strand of hair away from your head and thread your hair over the barrel and clamp down on the top of the section of hair for a few seconds. Then put the iron below the wave you just created and thread the hair under this time and clamp down again.
