I'm sure we've all done it, but lately I've been feeling convicted when looking for items in the grocery store and flinging the first brand of whatever item I’m hurriedly checking off the grocery list into my cart.
On a busy weekend, my main goal is to complete the list as fast as humanly possible... I've got a hot date with the couch and a bowl of coco pebbles and I don't want to be late!
While spending minimal time in the grocery store is great; when searching for shampoo, there are certain things to look out for that can cause harm to the health of your hair. And this goes for human hair wigs, too!
Hydrating Human Hair Wig Shampoo Ingredients
NATURAL OILS
Shampoos containing natural oils such as avocado, coconut and macadamia oil will ensure that your wig isn’t left thirsty and dry! Shampooing (especially too often) can often dry out the and hair, so it's always a good idea to have some natural oils that will help to replenish what is being lost after a thorough wig cleansing. An added bonus: natural oils also will also help protect the hair even after the shampoo has been rinsed off!
AMINO ACIDS
Amino Acids are produced naturally in the human body. They help to assist in the production of Keratin and are helpful for a plethora of other things at the same time. Not to mention, many of us are deficient in Amino Acids and the skin will absorb them during a biological hair shampoo!
RECOGNIZABLE INGREDIENTS
Let's be honest, reading the ingredients list on most shampoo brands can seem like reading a foreign language. A good rule of thumb is that if you can't pronounce it, don't use it! The more ingredients you recognize (fruits, antioxidants, natural oils, vitamins) the better.
Sulfate & Paraben Free Shampoo for Wigs
PARABENS:
BEWARE OF PARABENS! These harmful chemicals are used in (way too many) shampoos as a preservative. When purchasing shampoo, check the ingredients for parabens because they can irritate the skin and are not necessary ingredients.
SULFATES:
Sulfates are another thing to watch out for. A lot of shampoos will use sulfates as a way to make the product create a soapy, sudsy lather. While a nice lather might seem good, it actually strips hair of all oil which causes dry hair, breakage and often an itchy, flakey scalp.
A great shampoo that is both sulfate AND paraben free is the Hydrating Shampoo by BeautiMark. Hydra Shampoo aims to cleanse gently while strengthening processed human hair, preserving color, and adding a touch of softness.
There you have it! Hopefully, the next time you find yourself in the middle of a busy grocery store you will take the time to read the ingredients listed before putting your favorite shampoo in the cart. These tips may seem small, but they will make a big difference in the health of your scalp and hair.
