Pixie Wigs FAQs

A pixie wig is a very short hairstyle that does not extend past the ears. The pixie cut often gets confused with the bob haircut. The main difference between these two hairstyles is that a bob either extends to the chin or rests above the shoulders while a pixie cut stops at the ears.

Pixie cuts are cute and an easy hairstyle to maintain. Pixie wigs look great on square, oval, and heart-shaped faces. It’s important to keep in mind you do not need to have any of these face shapes to try a pixie cut wig. For example, if you have a round face, find a pixie wig with more volume in the crown to help slim down the face. Or if you have an oblong face shape, find a pixie cut that has bangs and a flat top to balance out your facial proportions.

Pixie wigs can be made with either human hair or synthetic fibers. Human hair wigs are designed with real human hair that looks and feels like your natural hair. Synthetic wigs are made with high quality synthetic fibers to mimic the look and feel of natural hair. Some of these wigs are even made with heat friendly synthetic fibers, so you can style the hair with heat tools.

Pixie wigs come in various cap constructions:

  • Hand tied wigs are where the individual hairs are tied by hand into the cap to create the appearance of hair growth. These types of wigs are also a great option if you have a sensitive scalp!
  • Monofilament wigs refer to the sheer mesh fabric that allows the color of your own scalp to show through the fibers tied to the top of the wig. The hair is either tied or sewn into sections into the top portion of the cap. This allows each of the tied hair to be parted or brushed in any direction.
  • Basic cap wigs are designed by sewing sections of hair, also known as wefts, into a thin elastic material. The open spacing around the wefts allow air to pass through for a breathable style.
  • Lace front wigs give you a realistic hairline because the hairs are hand tied into the see-through lace material that extends across the top front of the wig. Depending on the the style, wigs with lace fronts can range from across the forehead to extending to the ears.

Our pixie wigs have both textured and smooth hair fibers. We have pixie wigs that have straight hair for a more smoother look and wavy/curly for a more textured appearance. Whichever your hair texture you prefer, you’ll always rock your pixie wig!

Wash your pixie wig every 6-8 wears.

  • First, rinse the hair with lukewarm water from roots to ends. Do not soak your wig because this could cause tangling.
  • Next, pour shampoo into your hands and work them through the hair. Remember to distribute a sparing amount of shampoo and evenly work it throughout the hair.
  • Be sure to rinse the hair thoroughly.  You could dull the hair fibers if you do not rinse out your wig enough.
  • Then, spray leave-in conditioner from the mid-shaft to the ends. Be sure to avoid the knots or roots.
  • Let lukewarm water flow in the same direction of the hair to avoid tangling. Do NOT wring the hair. Only squeeze and press the hair.
  • Gently blot the hair with a towel to get rid of the excess water.
  • Lastly, part the hair gently with a comb before the wig dries. Air dry on a folding wig stand.
