How To Wear Wigs With Long Bio Hair

Maybe you are having a bad hair day, trying out a new style, or having a selfie photo shoot; whatever the reason may be, you’ve got a new wig and it just doesn’t seem to be working out. Those who “suffer” from long biological locks may encounter a small obstacle when it comes to wearing a wig.

How To Put On A Wig With Long Hair

Trying to fit all of your natural hair under a wig cap can be a frustrating venture. You want the wig to look natural, but it seems kind of hard when you have a lump of your own hair perched underneath. So what can you do?

Check out our step-by-step tips on how to wear wigs with long hair!

How to Tuck Your Hair Under a Wig

Step 1. Braid It

The first thing you will want to do in order to provide a seamless transition from hair to wig is braid your hair. By braiding your hair into four or more different sections, you can better hide your long hair underneath. The braids help to disperse the bulk of your hair evenly so that you don’t have one whole lump of hair piled in the back of your wig. Because, trust us girl, you will be able to see it!

Step 2. Wrap and Pin

Once you have your hair braided (make sure your hair is also dry before doing this!), you can wrap the braids around your head. Make sure to space them out so that they aren’t all in one place.

If you decide to use less that four braids, you can use two, just lift them up and have them meet at the top of your head. And if you want a quick up-do with one braid, simply wrap the braid in the back into a swirl shape.

Then all you have to do is use good old reliable bobby pins to hold the braids down. You may need a handful of these if you have particularly thick hair. This method can be used even if you are wearing pixie wigs!

Step 3. Use a Wig Cap

Next, you will want to put on your wig cap. Wig caps can either be mesh, nylon, or cotton material. To put the cap on, just open it up and pull it over your head, starting at the nape. Then, pull it up towards to the forehead. You can secure the cap with a couple more bobby pins if you want!

Step 4: Rock That Wig!

All that’s left to do now is pop on your wig and be glamorous! It can be a short wig, long wig, or a colorful one!

Anyway you want it, your long hair is sure to be secure by following these few steps. For maximum security, you can add wig glue to the side and top of your face near your hairline and ears. And make it a lacefront for that all-natural facade!
