Meet Jenna!

September 20th, 2023

We started working with Jenna Fail in 2022 after we discovered her on TikTok. She is a long time Wigs.com customer, but like most of her followers, from the moment we met, we knew we had found a kindred spirit. With her irresistible Southern charm, Hollywood glam look and down to earth personality, Jenna quickly became our long lost best friend! We are excited to share Jenna's story and how it led her to embrace wearing wigs. By sharing her story, we hope to bring women together, fostering support, empathy, and a reminder that they are not alone in their quest to embrace their unique beauty and self-worth. Join us in celebrating Jenna and her remarkable journey.
About Jenna
Wigs.com: Tell us about yourself and how your journey with hair loss persuaded you to be such an inspiration in the hair loss community.
Jenna: Hey y’all! My name is Jenna Fail. I’m a wife, cat mom, stained glass artist and health/fitness enthusiast! I’m also a licensed cosmetologist (so was my mom) so growing up, hair was always a fun outlet me and my mom shared! Between perms, coloring and fun cuts, we were always enjoying playing in different looks! My hair has always been very thin, as was my moms and grandmas, so it was always pretty normal to be counted out of certain fuller styles. But I enjoyed doing what I could with what I had!
At the age of 18 I experienced my first heavy loss in regards to actual spots falling out. I was newly married and it felt so isolating. It grew back but would come again in waves. With each wave it got thinner and thinner until ultimately I decided a pixie was my best option. It was cute and definitely helped to hide the thinness, but it wasn’t me. I didn’t feel like myself. I decided to grow it out and figured I would try a wig in those strange pixie grow out stages. They are horrendous, IYKYK! I bought a cheap long length from some random shop online and although the quality was bad, I felt like me again when I put it on. I didn’t wear it a lot due to it being uncomfortable, but I loved having the option to recognize myself again in the moments I did wear it. Once I was past the weird pixie grow out stage, my hair continued to thin. Even though the length was long, it wasn’t able to be styled in ways that made me feel confident.

I found wigs.com and came across the popular style Ignite by Jon Renau! I decided to give a short style a try and I’m so glad I did! It was SO CUTE!! I put it on and I don’t think I took it off for a year LOL! I felt like me again. Plus, it was so comfortable I could wear it all day with no issue! Every time I go out in that style I get stopped with compliments! I never hesitate to tell people it’s a wig because the look on their face is priceless! It’s never a horrified look, but rather an intrigued look. They want to know more. It often opens the conversation where they feel comfortable to ask questions or open up about their hair thinning (it’s more common than you’d think). Wigs have come such a long way over the years, people don’t often realize how realistic they are now. These aren’t your grandmas wigs! Forget what you think you know about wigs and explore what they have become! I love helping women find their confidence again and open the door to so many fun and exciting looks!

Finding Confidence with Wigs

Wigs.com: How has wearing wigs influenced your confidence or other areas of your life?
Jenna: I am a firm believer in “look good, feel good”! And when you feel good, you’re just better. That carries into all areas of your life if you let it! Confident people always shine the brightest! So taking control of your confidence is key!

My Advice For New Wig Wearers

Wigs.com: What advice would you give to yourself at the beginning of your wig wearing journey?
Jenna: Don’t be scared to change it up more! Although I’ve always been open about my wig journey, I tended to stay with the same colors and similar styles. Now, I’m purple one day, long blonde the next, then brunette LOL! Now instead of staying in a similar box of styles, I keep people on their toes! Even my husband! He never knows who he is coming home to LOL!! And he loves it!

Wigs.com: What is the biggest challenge with wearing wigs?
Jenna: Honestly, probably the fear of judgment. Although we can be open and confident in what we are doing, there’s always that little voice of “people are judging you” that can creep in. I’m sure if you’re reading this you can relate. After all, as much as I love wigs, I would LOVE to have a naturally beautiful full head of hair. But that’s just not my reality. It’s important to remember that if someone was judging you for taking control of a situation you had no control over - they’ll judge you for far less and likely already have. Their opinion doesn’t matter. I promise you have way more people rooting for you than rooting against you! I’m rooting for you! Wear your crown proud! Confidence shines!
Wigs.com: What do you love most about wearing wigs?
Jenna: The versatility and ease! I definitely don’t miss all the time I spent styling my real hair. I throw on a wig in a few seconds and I’m out the door! I also love the versatility in styles! I’ve grown to enjoy changing my style like I change my clothes! It’s just another extension of styling my overall look for the day! You know how the perfect accessory can set off an outfit? Wigs can do the same! When I shop I think “oooh this dress would look great with a blunt blonde bob!” So I enjoy styling around that now!
