Meet Jenny B!

September 13th, 2023

Last month, we were thrilled to host Jenny B. at our Wigs.com headquarters! We had an absolute blast getting to know her and spent a couple of fantastic days capturing her in some of our most popular wig styles. Which is why we are even more excited to share Jenny's inspiring journey with you. We believe in the power of storytelling and sharing experiences as we work towards normalizing wearing hair. When women bravely open up about their hair loss, they not only break the chains of isolation but also help create a compassionate community. This is a community where others facing the same challenges can find comfort and understanding. Through these shared stories, women can come together to offer support, empathy, and a reminder that they are not alone on their journey to embracing their unique beauty and self-worth. That's why we are honored to share Jenny's story with you.
About Jenny B
Wigs.com: Tell us about yourself and how your journey with hair loss persuaded you to be such an inspiration in the hair loss community.
Jenny B: Hi! My name is Jenny and I’m a wife and a BUSY mom to 5 kids ranging in age from 16 down to 2 years old. I was a hairstylist in my 20’s before I left the beauty business to focus on being a stay at home mom with my children. I’m in my mid 40’s now and have experienced a good amount of hairloss after my last two pregnancies. My hair has always been fine and thin but the last few years have really left me with hair that is “less than” that ends up in a tiny bun most days. It was affecting my self esteem and I had completely lost my confidence and zest for everyday life. April 2 of this year, I chose to start my Instagram page with the intent to educate, inspire, and normalize wig wearing. I had only been wearing them for a couple of weeks! I spent countless hours researching and soaking it all up. I knew how overwhelming it was in the beginning so I decided to create a safe and FUN space to feel seen and to feel less alone in the hairloss journey. It can feel isolating. I hope to continue to be that support to others.

Finding Confidence with Wigs

Wigs.com: How has wearing wigs influenced your confidence or other areas of your life?
Jenny B: Wearing wigs has changed everything for me. I was missing out on things in my life BECAUSE of my hair. Doesn’t that sound crazy?! I used to go days/weeks without putting makeup on or doing my hair. I was in a rut. NOW, I put makeup on everyday, cute outfit, put a wig on and I’m out the door feeling polished and confident. It’s the icing on the cake!! The perfect accessory!

My Advice For New Wig Wearers

Wigs.com: What advice would you give to yourself at the beginning of your wig wearing journey?
Jenny B: To slow down. Give myself grace and not purchase EVERY wig just because of the excitement! I made a few mistakes that could have been avoided if I had done the research before the purchase. And THAT’s one of the many reasons why I do what I do. I help women make good choices and walk them through the challenge. Because it is challenging. It’s FUN, but it is also overwhelming. And I understand that firsthand.

Wigs.com: What is the biggest challenge with wearing wigs?
Jenny B:Yeah that’s just it. The beginning. It takes time to look at yourself in the mirror with HAIR. A lot more than what you’re used to. And at the end of the day as realistic as these look, they’re still wigs. And you have to bend to make that work out in your favor. Set your expectations where they need to be and you’ll be happy. It’s not going to be perfect. But close enough!
Wigs.com: What do you love most about wearing wigs?
Jenny B: Oh my gosh! Where do I start? The flexibility, the opportunity to try new cuts and colors in a matter of minutes, the time I save by not having to do my hair, the community, new friendships, the camaraderie, the opportunities that have been presented to me and feeling pretty again.. the list goes on.
