August is National Hair Loss Awareness Month

Did you know that roughly 80 million people in America alone have dealt with some form of hair loss in their lifetime? Well if you didn’t know, now you do, and that’s what National Hair Loss Awareness Month is all about!

National Hair Loss Awareness Month

Here at Wigs.com, we are acutely aware of just how frustrating and discouraging hair loss can be, and we strive to provide our clients with support and resources to assist in their wig journeys. In honor of National Hair Loss Awareness Month, here are some important things to know about hair loss, as well as your options if you have hair loss.

Hair Loss Has Many Causes

If you’re experiencing hair loss, know that you aren’t alone, and that there is a huge community of people going through your exact situation, no matter what type of hair loss you have. There are many different causes of hair loss, including genetics, hormonal imbalances, poor nutrition, allergies, medication side-effects, stress, and more.

While some types of hair loss can be reversed if the problem causing it can be fixed, such as better nutrition, or stopping a medication with that side-effect, other types of hair loss, such as genetics cannot be reversed.

Hair Loss Is A Medical Condition

It is important not to be duped by hair creams and shampoos that claim to reverse hair loss, or help you grow thicker hair, or to help your missing hair grow back. Hair loss is recognized as a medical subspecialty, so in order to slow it down, it is important to meet with a specialist as soon as you can. However, hair loss treatments can be costly, as well as disappointing. Luckily, there are other, simpler options available.

Wigs Are An Easy Choice For Individuals with Hair Loss

While some people choose to rock the bald look, (I’m looking at you, Vin Diesel), wigs are a great alternative for individuals with balding or thinning hair! There’s a wide variety of different wig types for people in every walk of life, from younger women to older women, and of course men too! We provide resources such as our Wig Expert tips to help you through every stage of your wig journey. for thinning at the roots, some people begin with hair toppers, but for full coverage, wigs are your best bet!

For both men and women, hair loss is often hard to adjust to, as well as hard to ignore. Be sure to remember that you are beautiful no matter what, but if you feel more comfortable and confident with hair, there are wonderful wig options to choose from.
