With life-changing issues like hair loss, there are two types of people. The first type consults everyone and I mean everyone. She grills her doctors for answers while asking her best friends for advice. She isn’t afraid to tell anyone who is interested that yes, she is wearing a wig and she doesn’t know how she went so long without one.
The second type of person, however, is the opposite. This person prefers to keep such matters private. She may take her hair loss in stride, but she still prefers the anonymity of purchasing wearable hair online. She isn’t ashamed of her wig, but she’d rather everyone believe it's her own biological hair on her head.
The good news is that neither of these types of people are wrong. There is no right or wrong way to handle hair loss. If you like spreading the gospel of wigs and extensions, then you go, girl!
Meanwhile, if you’re closer to the second type of person, I do applaud your independence. However, doing it all alone can mean you are missing out on some valuable information. So, for wigs, have you sought expert advice?
Of course, I’m not suggesting you have to scour social media and find an experienced wig-wearer and show up at her door. You can always consult the Wig Experts right here on Wigs.com!
Who are the Wig Experts? They are a team of licensed cosmetologists, professional hair stylists, and wig lovers whose purpose is to make wig-shopping easier for you. This team tries everything first in order to give you the real lowdown.
On the Wig Experts page, you can review the team’s top picks for wigs. To give you an idea, here are the team’s favorite rooted wigs. If you’d rather have some personalized advice, you can call or email the Wig Experts.
This isn’t an advertisement for the Wig Experts though; you can consult any expert you wish. If there is a brick and mortar wig shop near you, you can consult a stylist there. If your friend or relative is an experienced wig owner, direct some of your burning questions at them.
As with just about anything in life, you will benefit from the experience of others. An expert can walk you through the best method of measuring for a hair topper base or a wig cap. He or she can also teach you the differences between wig cap construction styles and guide you towards the best one for you. Plus, an expert will have years of tips and tricks to share with you!
If you’re new to the wig game and haven’t sought out an expert yet, we can start you on your way. We asked our Wig Experts a few questions and they were happy to fill us in!
We asked the Experts what advice they would give to someone new to the hair loss community and wigs. “This is an opportunity to achieve the hair you have always wanted. It's not always ideal circumstances that bring us to the decision to wear a wig or hair topper but once we've made that decision, the biggest step is done.”
Remember, the Experts can give you personalized shopping advice if you reach out to them. “Shopping should be a positive experience and not add additional stress. We're looking for beautiful cuts and colors just for you! It's called "Retail Therapy" for a reason.”
The journey brought on by hair loss isn’t an easy one, but experts can help make it easier. If you need somewhere to start, try one of these:
